Great Pumpkin Contest!

The Great Pumpkin has once again came to Wilmer Elementary. Students were able to decorate a pumpkin as their favorite storybook character. Pumpkins were on display in the library media center. Pumpkins were judged as prizes awarded. This year the judges were Rose Brunson, retired teacher, Ken Megginson, school board rep., Rev. Gail Baughman, Wilmer Methodist Church, and Karen McDuffie, Century Bank in Semmes . Prizes were provided by Wal-Mart in Semmes, Wilmer Methodist church, Wilmer Elementary PTO, and Century Bank. Ernie Keene, a 2nd grade student, and his pumpkin "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" won best of show. Ernie received a $100 savings bond from Century Bank. The 1st place winner in each category each received a $50 savings bond.
